Abbreviations
The various acronyms used by the Pern EEC Survey Team seem to be their own inventions, rather than official EEC designations. Here's a list of their known acronyms:
| I.L.F. | Intelligent Life Form (eliminates colonization potential) |
| D.E. | Dead End (unsuitable planet for various reasons) |
| L.A. | Lethal, Avoid! (highly dangerous planet) |
| G.O.L.D.I. | Good Only for Large, Diversified Interests |
| P.E. | Parallel Earth (oceans, atmosphere, gravity, etc.) |
| R.N. | Resources Negligible (no significant mineral deposits) |
| c | suitable for Colonization |
