Time it takes to go between

Sariel's comments about posts are added in green.

There was an extended discussion/argument over the time it takes to go between.  Personally, I think Peter's got a great idea for solving the dilemma:

I always thought that it took 8 seconds to everyone who wasn't between, but it only felt like 3 when riding. I'm aware that there are a number of inconsistencies, but I enjoy finding semi-plausible ways around them.  :-)
