Sariel's Minor Morsels
Things to Do, See, or Get
What is it? A trivia contest about Pern, consisting of around 125 questions.
When is it? October 19-22nd, 2001.
Where is it? Questions will be split between three locations: Right here on my site, on Elrhan's Pern Museum and Archives, and on Coelura's Place.
Who's running it? It's a joint effort between myself - Cheryl Miller - and Hans van der Boom (aka Elrhan), Anneli Conroy, and Becky Skinner (aka Coelura).
Why do I want to participate? For fun and the shot at one of seven prizes, see below for pictures of each prize.
How will it work? Around 6 am EST (11 am GMT) on Friday Oct 19, questions will be posted here and the other two websites mentioned above. Contestants will have from the time questions are posted until 6am EST on Monday Oct 22nd to submit an email with their answers. Judges will then score all the entries, which make take several weeks depending on the number we receive. Once all entries are scored winners will be announced and prizes distributed.
Just to warn you, the questions we've come up with are detailed and difficult - don't let that discourage you from entering. I would not be at all surprised if our grand prize winner only scores 50% and other winners significantly less. Then again some of you might just knock our socks off! If you love trivia or covet one of the prizes, I'd start preparing now by rereading the books. Questions come from all the Pern books and short stories, with the exception of the newest novel Skies of Pern (not that we don't have it, just that we know all of you may not have gotten your paws on it yet, since it's still not out in mass market paperback form). If you don't own the books, you might want to plan now on getting as many as you can from the library for that weekend, because you'll want to go hunting for answers. You'll also find that many answers can be found on the web, if you know where to look (the hosts sites might be a good place to start, plus my organized link list).
After the contest is over, if you would like information on where to purchase any of the above items, email Cheryl.
For the first set of
questions (1 - 40) you will have to go to Coelura's
